sketches, photos, paintings etc.). Use the list below as a starting
point for your task. You don't have to do all of them you might
consider a series of works relating to the same subject.
1) Your favorite space(s) (either indoor or outdoor)
2) my room
3) a self portrait
4) the view from my window
5) a personal journey
The pieces must be FLAT A4 size on paper only (no metal/glass etc),
unmounted, and at least three of them should be freehand and drawn
from life, not copied from photos. They must be originals and will
NOT be returned to you. Please note that the pieces should be
spontaneous, not something derived from your school artwork, and
that we do not expect you to spend a lot of time on them. You should
also submit a short written text (200 words in total) explaining your
work and choice of media.
The task should illustrate the breadth of your individual skills,
current interests, extra curricular activities and personal
motivation. It should show a range of different work. Freehand
Drawings are key means of expression and investigation in
architecture and should form the main body of the task. Other forms
of media are also encouraged. Work does not have to be 'finished': we
are interested in work-in-progress.
There is no single 'right' way of doing the task; we do not expect
everyone to do everything. You should use the task to demonstrate
your own personality, initiative, and passion. Surprise us.
Please send the work to the address below (in an A4 envelope marked
'UCAS Task' in the top right-hand corner) by FRIDAY4 DECEMBER
2009. Please clearly mark each sheet with your name and UCAS ID
number. Work not submitted in an A4 envelope will not be considered
